Trump "is not your friend," Emhoff says, in appeal to young men
Second gentleman Doug Emhoff has offered a warning to the young men who are considering voting for former President Donald Trump, saying, “He is not your friend.”
Emhoff conceded in an interview with MSNBC’s Symone Sanders, which aired Sunday, that the “fun side” of Trump is appealing to some voters: “the dancing, the going to wrestling matches, going on the podcasts and trying to portray himself as someone who he really isn’t.”
Quoting artist Cardi B, Emhoff said, “It’s all just a hustle.”
The second gentleman implored young men to “do the research” before voting.
“He’s not your friend. The policies that he’s talking about will not help them in the economy, the policies that he’s talking about have nothing to do with them. So they might think he’s great, think he’s cool,” he said, going on to recall speaking to the mother of a young male voter who encouraged her son to watch his speeches, solidifying the son’s vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Polling suggests the gender divide between who is voting for which presidential candidate is becoming increasingly clear with the election less than one week away. CNN Senior Political Analyst Ron Brownstein also said all signs suggest that the partisan divide over changing gender roles in society could widen even further in the 2024 election, adding a new source of uncertainty to a contest already on a knife’s edge.
