Erdogan requests to make Turkey's way into EU participation before Sweden's NATO nomination

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, second right, speaks during a press conference at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, on July 10.
Turkey's way to participation of the European Association ought to be cleared before Sweden's NATO enrollment, as indicated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"To start with, we should clear Turkey's direction in the European Association, then, at that point, we should make room for Sweden, similarly as we prepared for Finland," Erdogan said during a question and answer session Monday in front of a NATO culmination in Lithuania.

"Turkey has been holding up at the door of the European Association for north of 50 years at this point," said Erdogan. "Practically all NATO part nations are European part nations."

Some specific circumstance: Sweden and Finland both officially mentioned NATO enrollment soon after Russia's attack of Ukraine in February 2022.

While Finland was conceded promotion in April 2023, Turkey keeps on rejecting Sweden's offered, blaming the country for lodging Kurdish "psychological militant associations."

Erdogan has recently said Turkey wouldn't support Sweden's NATO enrollment except if the nation removes "psychological oppressors" upon Turkish solicitation.

Sweden has clarified this will not occur and for the time being, the interaction is stuck.
