An Atlanta hotel clerk was shot early Wednesday by a man who demanded to see rapper 21 Savage, police said.
The clerk was hospitalized after being hit twice in the arm by the gunfire, which started shortly after 2 a.m., according to Atlanta news station WCGL-TV.
A witness said the alleged shooter, who was not identified, checked into the Hilton hotel in downtown Atlanta, then returned to the lobby and began firing briefly after asking to see the hip hop star, who is known for songs such as "X" and "Bank Account."
The hotel clerk is expected to survive, according to WCGL. A 29-year-old man from Virginia was arrested in connection with the shooting, Atlanta police said.
The alleged gunman fired five shots during the incident, cops said.
It’s unclear why the man requested to see 21 Savage, whose real name is Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, or why he believed the 27-year-old rapper to be at the hotel.
The hip hop star, who was born in London, spent much of his childhood in Atlanta.
