At least 11 firefighters have been injured after an explosion in downtown Los Angeles.
The firefighters were battling a blaze in the Little Tokyo section of the city, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department alert. After the explosion and injuries, more than 230 firefighters responded to the scene, where multiple buildings were on fire.

The explosion took place around 6:30 p.m. local time, according to a MAYDAY alert from the LAFD. By 7:30, the fire had been largely contained.
Local NBC affiliate KNBC had live helicopter video of the response. That video showed several city blocks closed off by firetrucks.
Sean Miura, a Buzzfeed executive and L.A. resident, posted a video of the fire to Twitter.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti tweeted, “My thoughts are with our brave LAFD firefighters. Closely tracking this situation as we continue to get more information.”
