US embassy and State Department are monitoring martial law declaration

 The US Embassy in Seoul and the US Department of State “are closely tracking President Yoon’s recent declaration of martial law,” US Ambassador to South Korea Philip Goldberg said Tuesday.

“The situation is fluid,” he said in a post on X. Goldberg encouraged people to “monitor local news sources for updates as the situation progresses” and to sign up for alerts from the State Department.
