Trump's plans for mass deportations could raise grocery prices, experts say

Americans want President-elect Donald Trump to bring down prices. But economists and agriculture experts say his plan for mass deportations will be inflationary.

Chuck Conner, CEO of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, said as much as 90 percent of the labor in certain agriculture sectors consist of people “who may not have proper documentation to be in this country.”

With fewer workers available, “there’s only one way prices are gonna go: They’re gonna go dramatically higher,” he said.
