Preparations are underway for the funeral of former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Beirut two months ago, according to a Hezbollah lawmaker.

“Preparations have been made. I believe the appropriate date and time will be chosen for

this event,” Ibrahim Moussawi told Lebanon’s Al-Mayadeen TV. “You will witness a majestic and grand procession of this nation’s masses, honoring the martyr of the nation and the leader, Hassan Nasrallah.”

Mahmoud Qamati, the deputy head of Hezbollah’s political council, also said in a news conference Wednesday that “serious discussion” is taking place regarding the funeral.

“I was the first to say that we postponed the funeral to ensure it is conducted in a manner befitting his (Nasrallah’s) spirit and martyrdom,” Qamati said.

“Today, we are preparing for a funeral that will serve as a clear popular and official referendum on the support for the resistance and the path of the martyr, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah,” he added.

Remember: Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his underground headquarters in an area of the capital’s southern suburbs known as Dahiyeh on September 27. It marked a significant escalation in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
