VAN LIFE Top selling car brand to release new ‘mobile cocoon’ campervan with roof tent & shower for £1,000s cheaper than rivals
A MAJOR car brand is releasing a new "mobile cocoon" campervan, featuring a pop-up roof tent and built-in shower, for thousands cheaper than its rivals.
The top-range mobile home can sleep, feed and entertain four people with ease and is ideal for families.
Citroen has confirmed that the Holidays model will be coming to the UK in the near future.
While the name might make it sound like a travel agent, the irony is that you won't need such a firm if you get hold of one.
Instead, it's a spacious and relatively affordable van conversion that lets you travel in style and comfort.
On the outside, it's pretty much indistinguishable from the sort of people mover you might see every day on the school run.But like Doctor Who's famous TARDIS, the magic is all on the inside.
Citroen has dubbed the van a "true mobile cocoon" and promises a "constraint-free travel experience" for its customers.
Get the Holidays out into the wild and it can come alive with all sort of convenient gadgets.
The model features a full kitchen setup in the rear cabin, complete with a two-burner gas stove, a sink and a mini fridge. In terms of sleeping arrangements, the central bench can fold out to a two-person bed, while hidden in the roof is a pop-out tent with a bed of its own.
And when you get up in the morning you won't have to bathe in a nearby stream or rely on a gym membership to get a wash. You won't find such discomfort here as the Holidays boasts its own built-in shower at the back.
This is fed by a 25-litre tank, while there's also a pair of 10-litre tanks for clean and waste water respectively.
On the tech front, there's no shortage of creature comfort either.
A central control panel can manage everything from climate control to the brightness of the lights.
Plus, you can keep your devices running all day and night with a 230V socket and a selection of USB-A and USB-C ports.
There's even a wireless smartphone charger in the dash.
Despite all that it offers, the Holidays has been priced to heavily undercut its nearest rivals, the Ford Transit Custom Nugget and VW California. While both of those clock in close to £70,000, the Holidays is a comparatively modest £56,590.
It comes after Audi hinted that it could revive a long-lost sports car that never made it to the factory.
