OFF-AIR BBC Morning Live star reveals she’s taking an extended break from the show

BBC Morning Live will be down a leading lady for a while as Kimberley Walsh makes a temporary exit from the show.

The Girls Aloud star, 42, announced on her Instagram she will be stepping back from the show with a collection of photos from her time on hosting duties.

Among the pictures, Kimberley is seen in a denim co-ord outfit comprised of a pair of jeans and a waistcoat over a white shirt.

“Last @bbcmorninglive for a little while as I have some business to attend to,” she wrote, alongside a string of emojis including a microphone, glitterball, music note and dancers.

“What a fab series so far and always love sharing the studio with so many incredible women (and Geth),” she added. “Happy International Women’s Day.”

The exit is coming in line with the highly anticipated Girls Aloud reunion, which has already seen the group release their first song in over 11 years.

Kimberley, Cheryl, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts are also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the group releasing their album, What Will The Neighbours Say?, this year.

They will also be heading out on tour in May.

The band - completed by the late Sarah Harding - was first formed in 2002 through ITV talent competition, Popstars: The Rivals.

On the show, the girls fought for their place in the band, with boyband One True Voice also being formed the same way.

The final groups were then both rewarded with record contracts, and released head-to-head singles.

While Girls Aloud may not have won that specific charts battle, they became pop icons that lasted nearly a decade - while One True Voice faded out and didn’t survive a year as a group.

At the beginning of March, Girls Aloud announced they were reissuing their album, alongside never-before-heard tracks.

The first, Disco Bunny, was released in celebration.
