A CAR has driven into a large crowd of people and left 17 injured including three children in Poland.
The driver ploughed into the group of people before fleeing the scene and continuing to cause chaos through his life-threatening driving, say reports.
Two of those hit in the horror crash in Szczecin, Poland are in a critical condition, according to Poland-24.com.
As at least seven are thought to be in hospital.
Polish media claims he veered off the road at high speeds before smashing into the crowd who were on a pedestrian crossing.
The driver has been identified as a 33-year-old man and is thought to have been finally stopped by the public after he caused more issues as he kept driving through Szczecin.Pictures show battered and beaten cars that were left crumpled up as the driver drove into them despite being parked on the roadside.
Before reportedly ramming into several more cars before crashing into a bus stop in front of horrified witnesses.
There he was apparently detained by the shocked onlookers and handed over to the police, according to local media.
Chilling pictures of the busy Polish street shows the injured people laying stricken on the ground.
As people rush to their side to help them recover before ambulances quickly arrived on the scene.
Provincial governor Adam Rudawski told reporters: "We have an incident here with currently 17 people injured, including three minors and two in critical condition.
"The person who caused the accident has been detained."
Police spokesman Pawel Pankau added: "This was not a terrorist act."
Cops are now set to investigate the situation.
