Hot Mic Picks Up Journalist’s Joke About Assassinating Trump — While Waiting To Cover His Trial: Report

Journalists waiting to cover President Donald Trump at the Washington, D.C., Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday reportedly got caught on a hot mic joking about the possibility that he could be assassinated.

Trump’s legal defense team has argued that he has immunity from prosecution, and following Judge Tanya Chutkan’s denial of the motion, the appeal is set to be heard before a panel consisting of Judge J. Michelle Childs, Judge Florence Pan, and Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson.

Prior to Trump’s arrival at the E. Barrett Prettyman U.S. Courthouse, cameras were set up outside in an effort to ensure there was ample coverage of the former president — and one such camera caught a conversation between several reporters waiting to cover his entrance.

You know what the worst part is? Even if he has his window open and he’s hanging out of it, he will be on the other side of the street,” one journalist began, suggesting that they would be too far away to get a good angle for a photograph or to ask a question.“I mean, if he’s driving, we’ve got a good shot!” a second responded, noting that based on their position, they would have the most direct view of whoever was driving the car.

“Yeah, if he’s driving with the front window open?” the first replied.

“Yeah, or if it’s a convertible?” the second said.

“Yeah. I wasn’t thinking about that,” said the first journalist.

“Yeah. Like if he just pulls up —” the second began.

“Like JFK?” the first journalist suggested then, referencing the vehicle in which former President John F. Kennedy was assassinated — prompting a laugh from the second journalist.

“Maybe someone, just like they told JFK. You know what you should do? You should take a convertible! It’s so nice out!” the first journalist added.
