‘It Was A S*** Show’: Parents Slam Disney’s NYC Christmas Village: Report

Parents slammed a tourist attraction in New York City called Disney’s The Santa Clauses’ Winter Wonderland as a “s*** show” after shelling out money to take their kids through the “frustrating” experience, according to the New York Post.

The Christmas Village located on the rooftop of Pier 17 in the South Street Seaport is being advertised as the “most magical holiday attraction of the season,” complete with “rooftop skating on a synthetic rink, dining cabins,” and a visit with Santa. Tickets start at $15 for general admission and $30 for a VIP ticket, which includes skate rentals, a fast pass entrance, hot chocolate, and entry to the “North Pole.”

But several parents said on social media the “Winter Wonderland” is nothing but a “tourist trap,” the New York Post reported.

“It was a s*** show,” Kamilla Cohen, 30 and a stay-at-home mom-of-two who paid for two VIP tickets, told the outlet. “The whole experience was frustrating.”

“There was nothing Disney inside – no Disney characters, we didn’t see a Disney trademark anywhere,” she added. “The pictures online looked so nice that’s why we wanted to go in the first place. When a business puts a Disney name on it, you expect to see a Disney character.”

“We expected to see a big guy,” Cohen continued of meeting Santa. “I don’t want to insult the man but he was definitely a small Santa.”

One of the attractions included a winter slide that Cohen said ended up allegedly being shut down after several kids got hurt due to the drop.

“It cracked my back so badly,” Cohen said. “I probably need a visit to the chiropractor. We asked our daughter if she wanted to go again, and she said no, I think she hurt herself. It’s so unusual for her not to go back to a slide.”

She said after they were done they heard a little boy crying who had went on the slide.

“It was so loud. I thought he was laughing at first and then I realized he was probably crying,” Cohen claimed. “People started to come up to him and someone said his bone was exposed – his ankle snapped.”

Another parent slammed the “tiny and without ice” rink.

“[It was] the worst money spent in my life!” a user named Jessica Teixeria wrote in a Google review. “Tourist trap, recommended only if you want to spend $100 to take photos on Instagram.”

One parent, who said they were there at the same time as Cohen, said their daughter “sprained her ankles” on the slide and “many kids complained that the fall is painful. The drop is fast and hard for adults and children. I wouldn’t recommend having your kids play on it.”

Another person slammed the hot chocolate as “more like warm water with a cocoa flavor” and wrote that Santa never even showed up.
