2 US carrier strike groups conduct 3-day drills in Eastern Mediterranean

The USS Gerald R. Ford and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower carrier strike groups are finishing several days of military drills in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, according to the US Navy.

"Operating and training alongside each other demonstrates the U.S. Navy's ability to seamlessly accomplish multiple missions, deter aggression and support our allies and partners," Rear Adm. Erik Eslich said in a press release.

Vice Adm. Thomas Ishee, commander of the U.S. Sixth Fleet, expressed similar belief in the military deterrence value of the drills.

“Operating dual carrier strike groups alongside Allies and Partners in a dynamic environment demonstrates our capability and capacity to respond with agility decisively to any contingency,” Ishee said.
