THE SUN SAYS Rishi Sunak needs radical ideas now to make our lives better after by-election defeats

Rishi on rack

NO amount of spin about Keir Starmer’s lacklustre image can conceal that Thursday’s by-election defeats were a double body-blow for the Tories.

Starmer won’t need much personal magnetism if anti-Tory sentiment stays strong, especially if their voters keep drifting to the Reform Party.

Rishi Sunak needs radical ideas now to make our lives better after by-election defeats

That alone could doom dozens more “safe” seats.

It is not unreasonable to pitch Rishi Sunak as the “change” candidate, which is what the public is clearly crying out for.

But his big announcements, scrapping part of HS2 and reinventing A-levels, are no one’s priorities.

Those remain the cost of living, the ailing NHS and uncontrolled migration.

There are few votes in gradually lowering inflation, right though that is.
