MANHUNT Lewiston shooting updates – Robert Card named ‘person of interest’ after active shooter ‘killed 22’ in Maine

POLICE have named Robert Card as a person of interest after an active shooter killed at least 22 people in multiple incidents in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday.

Police released several photos of the suspected gunman, 40-year-old Robert Card, who is on the run in Androscoggin County, about 35 miles north of Portland.

At least 22 people were killed and dozens injured after the shooter targeted two locations, Schemengees Bar and Grille Restaurant as well as Sparetime Recreation center at around 7 pm local time.

Residents are asked to lock their doors and stay off the roads as first responders search for the gunman and rush victims to the hospital.

Maine State Police said: "There is an active shooter in Lewiston. We ask people to shelter in place. Please stay inside your home with the doors locked.

"Law enforcement is currently investigating at multiple locations. If you see any suspicious activity or individuals please call 911. Updates to follow."

Card is considered armed and dangerous. Police ask anyone who sees him to call 911 instead of approaching him.

  • Local business owner 'in a state of shock'

    Melinda Small, the owner of Legends Sports Bar and Grill, described how her staff immediately locked their doors and moved all their customers to safety after hearing shots just a quarter of a mile away.

    She told AP: "I am honestly in a state of shock

    "I am blessed that my team responded quickly and everyone is safe, Small said. But at the same time, my heart is broken for this area and for what everyone is dealing with. I just feel numb."

  • Where did the shootings take place?

    Two shootings were reported last night, the first at around 7pm at the Sparetime Recreation bowling alley in Lewiston.

    Later another shooting was reported at Schemengees Bar and Grill.

    22 deaths have been reported as of this morning, with police set to host a news conference at 10:30am.

  • 'I just booked it'

    A man who was in attendance at the bowling alley when the shooter opened fire has spoken of how he fled the scene.

    The man, who identified himself as Brandon, told AP: "I had my back turned to the door.

    "And as soon as I turned and saw it was not a balloon he was holding a weapon I just booked it."
