House Republicans Accuse ‘Democrats And Their Corporate Media Allies’ Of Ignoring Evidence Of Biden Family Corruption
GOP lawmakers on Wednesday released more than 20 examples alleging President Joe Biden’s past involvement with his family’s foreign business dealings as they accused “Democrats and their corporate media allies” of ignoring the “mounting evidence.”
House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Republicans issued a news release claiming Biden allegedly influenced peddling schemes to enrich his family from foreign sources, including China, Russia, and Ukraine when he served as vice president in the Obama administration.
“We have evidence of President Biden’s involvement in influence peddling schemes.” committee member Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) said in an X post. “To say there’s ‘no evidence’ is foolish. We’ve examined Suspicious Activity Reports, bank records, depositions, and more. The evidence continues to point us to the ‘Big Guy’ aka Joe Biden.”
Hunter Biden’s former business partner, Devon Archer, told the House Oversight Committee during a closed-door hearing in July that Biden was on speakerphone for more than 20 calls with his son during business deals dating back to 2014.
“Archer described how Joe Biden was ‘The Brand’ and was used to send ‘signals’ of power, access, and influence to enrich the Biden family from foreign sources,” the committee wrote in the news release.
Republicans claim Biden and his family made millions of dollars from shell companies, including an energy company in Ukraine, a private equity firm in China, and consulting for a Romanian real-estate magnate. The investigation has also alleged Hunter pulled in an estimated $20 million through 20 shell companies and fake accounts while his father served as vice president.
The president has claimed he did not speak with his son about foreign business dealings.
The committee’s move comes amid House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) directing the House committees to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden after months of House Republicans uncovering “serious and credible” allegations into President Biden’s conduct that he referred to as a “culture of corruption.
But while the GOP seeks to return a similar impeachment treatment that Democrats gave former President Donald Trump, the Biden White House disseminated a memo to several legacy media outlets urging them to “ramp up … scrutiny” against the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry, adding it was “based on lies.”
“When even House Republican members are admitting that there is simply no evidence that Joe Biden did anything wrong, much less impeachable, that should set off alarm bells for news organizations,” the memo said, according to The Hill.
White House spokesman for oversight and investigations Ian Sams told CNN on Wednesday morning the GOP effort to remove President Biden from office “is part of the right-wing’s misinformation machine to try to confuse people about what the truth is.”
“The truth is that the president — as he has said publicly for years — calls his family every day to check in,” Sams said. “He calls his son every day to check in; he calls his other family members to check in to see how they’re doing.”
“He loves them,” Sams added. “They are a tight-knit family.”
