HORROR CRASH Two dead after driver ‘ploughed through three people before smashing into a house’ in Coventry – as cops arrest man, 33
TWO people have been killed and one man has been arrested after a car ploughed into a crowd of people before crashing into a house.
Cops and emergency services rushed to the scene after a 44-year-old pedestrian and a cyclist died in separate horror incidents in Coventry.
The pedestrians were hit in Gosford Street near the city centre around 8am while the crash with the cyclist happened a 10 minute drive away in Woodway Lane.
West Midlands Police said the car then smashed into a house on Beckbury Road.
Another pedestrian was treated for serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Cops from the drones team and dog unit were summoned to search for the suspect after a man made off when the car drove into the house.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at around 9am following the crash.
Officers are continuing to quiz him in connection with the collisions.
Several roads including Gosford Street have been sealed off as cops investigate.
Police have appealed for witnesses and are looking at CCTV footage.Superintendent Ronan Tyrer said: "We have now informed the families of all those involved in today's tragic incidents and our thoughts remain firmly with them at this truly devastating time.
"We are still in the very early stages of our investigations and we have several scenes across Coventry which also means that some roads will be closed for a considerable time."
