A primary school bus driver has been charged with sexual assault after allegedly blindfolding and raping a girl he met online.

Cleve Maynard Pain appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court in Western Australia on Saturday after the alleged encounter with his 14-year-old victim earlier this month.

The 51-year-old allegedly met the young girl on a messaging app and arranged a meeting. He is then accused of blindfolding her and taking her to an unknown site.

After arriving at the location, Pain allegedly raped her twice then blindfolded her again to drive her back to their meeting place.

He was been charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16 and one count of using electronic communication with intent to expose a person under 16 to indecent material and possessing child exploitation material.

Pain owns Leschenault Bus Services and drives the school bus at Kingston Primary School and Leschenault Catholic Primary School in the state's southwest.

Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting Pain's alleged victim is affiliated with either school.

Kingston Primary School principal Ashley King contacted parents via text message to notify them of Pain's charges.

'It is understood the charges do not relate to his duties as a bus driver,' the text message read, as reported by The West Australian.

Parents claim they saw Pain driving the school bus the day before his court appearance.

The matter was adjourned with Pain due to reappear in court on October 26.

A Public Transport Authority spokesperson confirmed Pain has a valid Working With Children certificate.

'This would indicate he had no relevant prior convictions,' they said.

A replacement driver has been arranged for the school route.

A former student claimed Pain was known to get angry at children riding his bus.

'(He) was never shy to yell at the kids on the bus for minor reasons,' they said.
