Knifeman who stabbed Arsenal fan to death at Tube station after he 'looked at him' across the tracks is jailed for life with minimum term of 25 years

A knifeman who stabbed an Arsenal fan to death at a Tube station after he 'looked at him' across the tracks has today been jailed for life.  

Alex Lanning, 22, was sentenced to life with a minimum of 25 year at the Old Bailey in London after killing photographer Tashan Daniel at Hillingdon station in west London last September.  

His co-defendant Jonathan Camille, 19, was jailed for six-and-a-half years after being convicted of a lesser charge of manslaughter.

Lanning stabbed Mr Daniel, 20, to death with a £200 German-made military blade he had taken from the set of the latest Fast and Furious film.

The victim, a talented 200 metre sprinter, was on his way to see the Gunners play Nottingham Forest with tickets he received as a 20th birthday present from his parents. 

But when he arrived at Hillingdon tube station, Lanning had glared at him from across the platform and he and Camille, 19, raced over the gangway to the platform. 

After pulling out the Aviator 1 knife, Lanning stabbed Mr Daniel once in the chest before running off. Paramedics battled to save Mr Daniel but he died from his wounds.

The blade was designed as an emergency rescue knife for crews of NATO military aircraft with the capacity to saw through laminated glass and cut through seat-belts.

Lanning claimed he took the weapon, which was a film prop, from Warner Bros studios where he worked.
