Ali did not appear before the online Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning, but his lawyer said he knew the proceeding was happening.
Four other men - three 26-year-olds from Hoppers Crossing, Footscray and Braybrook, and a 32-year-old man from Collingwood - were charged later on Wednesday.
They are still serving prison sentences for unrelated matters and are expected to front court on Friday.
