6.4-magnitude earthquake shakes parts of Nevada, California

A preliminary 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Nevada early Friday morning and was felt as far as the Bay Area in California, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake was centered around 35 miles west of Tonopah, more than three hours north of Las Vegas, and was followed by multiple aftershocks, according to the agency.
The series of tremors began around 4 a.m., local time.
Social media users reported feeling the earthquake across southwestern Nevada and in eastern California, including Fresno, Sacramento and San Francisco.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or property damage.
