Two dead, one wounded in East Harlem street shooting

Two men died and a third was wounded in a street corner shooting in East Harlem on Saturday night, police and witnesses said.
The “pop-pop-pop” of gunfire at the corner of East 112th St. and First Ave. put the neighborhood on alert at about 8:12 p.m.
“I heard a lot of shots and it sounded like fireworks. But I knew it wasn’t because there’s nothing to celebrate right now,” said a neighborhood resident who didn’t give her name.
Another woman who lives in a nearby apartment said she hit the floor with her cat when she heard five or six shots.

She looked outside and saw a man with a severe head wound. “I thought he was dead immediately, but I could have sworn I saw his leg move when they tried to help him,” she said.
Video taken from a nearby deli shows about a half-dozen people at the street corner who scattered as a gunman opened fire.

Two of the victims were taken to Metropolitan Hospital, and the third was taken to Harlem Hospital.

A 41-year-old victim at Metropolitan died, as did the 40-year-old victim taken to Harlem Hospital, said police.

The third victim, 38, was in critical condition at Metropolitan Hospital, said cops.

Police were continuing to investigate the case on Saturday night.

Meanwhle, in Brooklyn on Saturday night a 31-year-old man was fatally shot near the corner of Buffalo Ave. and Sterling Pl. in Crown Heights at around 8:02 p.m., said police.

Emergency responders declared the victim dead at the scene. Police said they were looking for a man who fled the scene in a white SUV.
