Sports commissioners from all leagues have been scrambling to come up with some kind of plan to get back to playing games after the coronavirus pandemic halted their seasons last month. But at least according to one poll, most fans won’t feel comfortable attending games until the final step in fighting the pandemic is completed.
In a Seton Hall poll conducted this week, 61% of sports fans and 72% of all Americans said that they would not feel comfortable attending games until the development of a coronavirus vaccine. Though three-fourths say that they would still watch just as much sports on TV if the leagues started up in front of empty crowds, the results signal to leagues that fans may not be especially eager for large-scale events to return before they’re completely safe.
“This virus has the attention and respect of the nation,” said Rick Gentile, director of the Seton Hall Sports Poll, in the release.
Though there’s still hope that existing drugs could prove effective in treating coronavirus, medical experts have unanimously agreed that a vaccine cannot be produced until 2021. Based on that timeline, and if this poll accurately reflects the country’s feelings, fans will not start filling up arenas for several months at the very least.
Notable for President Trump, who has targeted the beginning of the NFL season in August as a goal for a return to normalcy, only 6% of respondents believe the league should start up as planned.

Many aren't old enough to remember, but in the Swine Flu panic in (1976), the US Congress approved the money to vaccinate every person in the US. After they had inoculated about 25% of the population, and more people had died from the vaccine than did the Swine Flu, they discontinued the program. By the way, ONE person in the US died from the Swine Flu, THIRTEEN were hospitalized, and an estimated THIRTY-TWO died from the vaccine. "Never let a good crisis go to waste." - Rahm Emanuel

  3. Well this should get sports tickets down to a reasonable level. It's absolutely insane for anyone to fork out over $100 to see a bunch of millionaires play hockey. You get those tickets down to around 20-30 bucks and I'll be there.
