Mayor de Blasio delays filing 2019 taxes due to coronavirus

Mayor de Blasio hasn’t filed his 2019 taxes because of coronavirus.

Hizzoner usually releases his tax returns for the public to review on April 15, but he and his wife Chirlane McCray haven’t filed yet due to the pandemic.

“They haven't filed yet because their accountant is closed,” de Blasio spokeswoman Freddi Goldstein said. “We'll release once they do.”

The 2019 income tax filing and payment deadlines were extended to July 15 last month by the IRS as part of coronavirus relief efforts.

De Blasio will file his taxes by then, his office said, unless the deadline is extended again.

In 2018, de Blasio and McCray paid $44,246 in federal income tax after he got a raise. The couple reported $251,204 in combined wages in 2018, an increase of 14% from 2017.

They paid $15,858 in state taxes and $9,131 in city taxes for a total of $69,235 in 2018, according to the returns. They got an $818 federal refund and another $4,740 back from the state.
