Either way, it makes for some interesting stories and mysteries for inquiring minds to ponder on.

Till Death do us Part (and Beyond)
Archeologists discovered this couple buried together holding hands. What an interesting find this was in England – a love beyond the grave! A team of researchers, along with a local historian, discovered the grave in Leicestershire, England during an excavation of the chapel of St. Morrell. It appears this couple has been holding hands for over 700 years. Among the many artifacts that were found were also thousands of coins and a Roman cavalry helmet in the area, leading them to believe that the site was used during Roman times. They also found remnants of an ancient Roman temple site.

A 2,000-year-old Discovery
During the painstaking process of excavating the land in order to prepare the ground for construction of new base housing in Suffolk County, an unusual human skeleton was found that could possibly be as old as 2,000 years old. The remains of this skeleton were removed and sketched by archeologists in order to complete further studies, but they believe that this particular body was of 1st-century Roman descent. Evidence to further substantiate their theory includes Roman pottery that was also found in the area.

Multiple Skeletal Remains Found
Not just one or two but four human skeletons were found in India by archeologists, who believe they go back as far as 4,000 years from the time of the ancient Harappan civilization. The area where these corpses were found was at Mohenjo-daro, which is believed to be the world’s oldest surviving city. These four human skeletons were two male adults, a female adult, and a child. What led to their demise is anybody’s guess, but based on other items found at the site such as the type of pottery and shell bangles, it is believed that the people believed in reincarnation.

Giants in the Land?
Archeologists in Eastern China have found a 5,000-year-old graveyard of these “giants.” In fact, they found 205 graves of them, a breed of men who were extraordinarily strong and tall for Chinese men. Some of them had damaged skulls and broken legs indicating some kind of violence must have taken place after their burial. The artifacts that were found around the area such as pottery and jade are believed to have been left by people from the Longshan Culture. The Longshan Culture was part of a civilization that lived along the area of the Yellow River, which was considered to be the most flourishing region in early Chinese history.

A Giant of a Discovery
While doing excavations in Varna, a city in Bulgaria, these archeologists discovered a giant skeleton. From this picture, it can be seen how much larger the skeleton is compared to the normal size of the archeologists. With the use of carbon dating, it was determined that the skeleton must be more than 6,500 years old. During the 7th century B.C., Varna used to contain a trading post named Odessos, but towards the end of the 2nd century A.D., it was renamed Odessus which became a Roman retreat. It was near the site of what is left of the ancient wall of this retreat that the archeologists found the giant skeleton.
From loving couples buried together hand in hand to 6,500-year-old giants, these archeologists have done amazing work to stir curiosity about past cultures and times.
