We're Christmashed! Revellers embrace Mad Friday across Britain on the biggest (and booziest) night of the year for office parties
Festive revellers were out in full force last night as the Christmas party season hit its peak.
Partygoers wearing Santa hats, elf costumes and polar bear jumpers were pictured blowing off steam across the country to celebrate 'Mad Friday'.
While others were seen rowing with bouncers and squaring up to each other outside as intoxicated tempers clashed.
Across the North clubbers braved freezing temperatures as they made their way between venues.
Mad Friday is traditionally held on the last Friday before Christmas Day although many UK cities, including Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle, feared that next Friday is too close to December 25 meaning people may be away on holidays. Many clubs and bars therefore decided to celebrate the event last night instead.
The pictures come after authorities issued warnings to people travelling during drunken nights out during the festive season.
Accidents involving drunken passengers spike during the Christmas period in Britain as more people misuse level crossings and suffer trips and slips on platforms, stairs and escalators.
Around one in six of the 7,419 drink-related incidents on Britain's railways in 2016/17 took place between November 24 and January 2.
