The proud dad from Hereford told the Mirror his fears of ending up like other troubled lottery winners encouraged him to temper his high-flying lifestyle.
Marking his new life with Stacy and the third anniversary of his jackpot win, Matt set off on another round-the-world trip on 8 April this year.
But this was a very different sort of holiday compared with the wild blow-out with his brother Pete and friends after scooping the prize.
The relaxing trip was only disrupted when Stacy became ill in Asia weeks into the getaway.
What they thought was a tummy bug turned out to be morning sickness due to a six-week pregnancy.

The news sparked a rollercoaster year as the couple later discovered the baby had a rare form of Spina bifida that could have led to health problems at birth.
Thankfully little Jude arrived healthy and the pair are now turning their thoughts to marriage.
Last year Matt had boasted of spending £500,000 over 18 months in 22 countries, bedding at least 150 women, glugging champagne and buying designer clothes.
But he claims he has clawed back the money (and then some) and is worth as much as £1.4 million after toning down his partying lifestyle.
'Twenty seventeen was the best year of my life, bar none,' he told the Mirror.
'My son was born, I became engaged to my best friend and my business is booming.
    'Life is great.'

Matt and Stacy - an NHS play specialist helping children from Ludlow, Shropshire - in August 2016 and the pair began their trip of a lifetime months later.
They fulfilled their goals of visiting the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China and Mount Everest, travelling to countries including Japan, Thailand and the Philippines.
The trip ended in Bali - poignantly, where Matt had begun his wild lottery celebratory trip back in 2014.
He had one final 'blow out' with friends in August, flying to Las Vegas to watch the much-anticipated Floyd Mayweather versus Connor McGregor boxing match.

The lottery winner proposed on the same day Prince Harry announced his engagement to Meghan Markle - but insists he got there before the prince.
Matt believes he is now worth between £1.3 million and £1.4 million.
He said he bought a £242,000 property in Brisbane, Australia, and his inner-city Casino Towers complex is worth about £288,000.
The lottery winner also expects to make about £28,000 after investing £20,000 in British film London Heist, which premiered in July.
Matt says he could have easily been swept up in a destructive whirlwind after winning the lottery.
He was dragged through the courts in 2015 after his ex-girlfriend Carla Chamberlain hit him in the face and grabbed his testicles.

Matt has now tempered his high-flying lifestyle and plans to wed Stacy in 2019. The lottery winner believes he is worth between £1.3 million and £1.4 million

The fitness trainer, infuriated that he received a Snapchat message from another woman, was found guilty of two counts of common assault by beating and one count of criminal damage.
But now there's no turning back.
Matt is now training to be a pilot and his wedding is planned for 2019 - and his mum is delighted.
