A 31-year-old woman and two girls aged eight and 10 were rescued from the home.

All three were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, with the woman dying from her injuries earlier this morning.

The two girls remain in hospital in critical conditions, West Yorkshire Police said.

Officers are now probing the fire, which they are currently treating as suspicious. But they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the horror.

Snaps show how flames have gutted the house, with its windows and roof tiles blown out by the blaze.

A neighbour said: "I just heard a bang and I looked out of my front door and I could see a fire in the distance.

"My instinct was to go see if I could be any help, to see if everybody was OK."The neighbour added: "By the time I got there, there was already some police on the site.

"The paramedics and fire brigade came shortly after. We saw them all being pulled out of the house.

"The fire brigade took all the pipes out and tried their best to put it out.

"They had aerial equipment over the house. It was all coming up through the roof.

"I knew her as a neighbour, I've lived her for a few years, she was just a nice lady.

"I don't know what happened, I look out this morning and the roads were cordoned off.

"I just hope and pray the girls are ok, I'm really devastated. I'm really sad, really gutted.

"She was a lovely lady and you can tell she really loved those beautiful girls."

Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said: "Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragic incident."

The homicide cop added: "Specially trained officers are supporting the family.

"We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

"But we are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area this morning.

"They may have seen something to come forward with information. A scene remains in place whilst enquiries are carried out."Anyone with information can call the Homicide and Major Enquiry team on 101 quoting Op Purplenest.
