Pet rabbit blocks sink with soil while munching 12 houseplants then floods kitchen by turning on tap

A PET rabbit blocked a sink with soil while munching 12 houseplants — and then flooded the kitchen by turning on the tap.

Owner Pema Ferris, 24, had only popped out for a while, but returned to “absolute devastation”.

The mum of one said: “It was a nightmare. All the plants that should have been on the windowsill were in the sink and the rabbit was on the windowsill instead of the plants.

“My other rabbit is the most well behaved one in the world and he lured me into a false sense of security thinking all rabbits would be this well behaved — and then I got Dorothea.”

Pema thought she had put the plants in a safe place. But continental giant Dorothea clambered up and ripped into ones including aloe vera and a tomato plant, which can be dangerous for bunnies.

Bartender Pema then dashed her pet to an out-of-hours vet, who gave Dorothea a clean bill of health.

Five hours later, they got back home to Radcliffe, Greater Manchester, at 11.30pm — and Pema began a two-hour clear-up.

She said: “There was water all over the floor and there was a good puddle underneath the fridge, oven and cupboards. A lot of the things that were in my cupboards had been ruined.

The bunny is 'quite cheeky', according to owner Pema“Dorothea is quite cheeky and mischievous and is growing into a very big rabbit, but I’m shocked she’s done this.

“She’s now banned from the kitchen and the rest of my house is rabbit proof already.

“And from now on it will be plastic houseplants.”
