Horrific moment a four-year-old boy is stretchered away after being mowed down by a car and suffering serious head injuries

- Emergency crews attended Rose Street, at Sefton in Sydney's western suburbs
- The child was taken to Westmead hospital in a stable condition at around 5.45pm
A four-year-old boy has sustained serious head injuries after being hit by a car in Sydney's west.
Paramedics rushed to Rose Street at Sefton at around 5.45pm on Wednesday night, where his tiny body was seen being loaded onto a stretcher.
A crowd of onlookers surrounded emergency services as they checked the boy for injuries before taking him on a stretcher to the ambulance and driving him to Westmead hospital.
Several women were visibly shaken, embracing on the street and crying as the child was taken away.

He is understood to be in a stable condition after initial shock, and could be heard crying at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a woman believed to be aged in her 30s, was uninjured.
She was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result.
Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Inquiries are continuing.
