Police release photos, video of several Macy’s looters

Police have released photos and video of a smash-and-grab gang that tore apart Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square at the height of the George Floyd protests and unrest in Manhattan — looting about $10,000 worth of merchandise.
The footage, released Tuesday night, shows at least 15 people huddled by the revolving-door entrance of the iconic department store. Another angle shows several looters’ faces. One is seen wielding a claw hammer, another a wooden plank.

The crew of thieves rushed into the W. 34th St. store at about 9:20 p.m. June 1 — well before police started enforcing an 11 p.m. curfew that night.
Video posted on Twitter showed a small group yanking and kicking the plywood that blocked off doors, with more people gathering as the wood gave way. Then, cheers erupted as more looters flooded into the store to steal about $10,000 in merchandise.

Police also released a photo of a man wanted in the looting of an East Village pharmacy hours later.
The man was part of a group that lifted the front gate of the Abacus Pharmacy on Second Ave. at E. 11th St. at 2 a.m. June 2, then broke the glass door to get inside, cops said.
Police have released these photos of one of the looters who struck at the Abacus Pharmacy at 168 2nd Ave. in Manhattan early June 2.
