A young North Carolina girl was allegedly shot dead by a man freed from jail just three hours before the killing.
The Forest City Police Department confirmed that seven-year-old Aaliyah Norris died from her wounds after being shot while riding inside a vehicle on Oak Street.
Family members said that Aaliyah was eating ice cream at the time she was shot.
When officers responded on Tuesday to a call of a child being shot, they arrived to the intersection and found two people removing Aaliyah from a car.

Aaliyah had a single gunshot wound to the head.

Forrest City Dunbar Elementary shared a photo of Aaliyah on Thursday and announced her tragic passing.

'The Forest City - Dunbar family is incredibly saddened at the loss of one of our students Aaliyah Norris. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers,' they wrote.
Authorities discovered the suspect fled the scene in a black SUV and launched an investigation.
A press release said authorities used tips from community members and additional help from law enforcement partners to eventually charge Shaquille Marshon Francis, 26, in the shooting.
Forest City Police Chief Chris LeRoy told WLOS that Francis was released from jail on unrelated charges just three hours before allegedly shooting Norris.
Arrest records from Rutherford County reportedly show Francis was arrested that day for assault by pointing a gun.

Francis was taken into police custody without incident on Wednesday.
He was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, discharging a weapon into occupied property inflicting serious bodily injury, and discharging a firearm within the city limits.
Police have since upgraded those charges to murder after Aaliyah died during treatment.
He is being held in the Rutherford County jail in lieu of a $10million secure bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
It's unclear why Francis allegedly shot into the vehicle, but a relative on Facebook suggested he targeted the wrong vehicle.
'Today my niece Aaliyah Grace Norris was shot and is in critical condition in Spartanburg hospital. This is something that has broke my heart because they shot into the wrong car,' wrote her uncle, LJ miller.
'He shot at the wrong car, it was a car that’s was full of kids. Now look a sweet beautiful little girl that done nothing wrong got shot because stupid people with guns.'
Miller also shared a touching tribute to the young girl where he called her a 'warrior.'
Authorities have not revealed what led up to the shooting, but family members have suggested that Aaliyah's (pictured) death was a result of  mistaken identity

'Aaliyah Grace Norris was a warrior and she fought and fought but the good LORD call her home today. Big Granny and papa was waiting for her at the gate and the time they are having up there in heaven,' he wrote.
'To Breanna and Teddy I'm sorry this happen but just know that she is in heaven with the lord and watching down on us with others that have pass on.
A family friend shared a heart-wrenching Facebook post that also suggested it was a case of mistaken identity.
'When the words “they’re taking my grand baby off of life support” come out of your close friends mouth, and you can hear the pain and devastation choking him up. If there was anything in this world I could do to change this for you guys, I’d do it without a second thought,' wrote Bethany Mae.
'A case of mistaken identity has cost an innocent child her life.. it has cost a mother her child, a grandfather his princess, a little girl and a little boy their sister.. a father his daughter.. Aunts and uncles their Niece.. a case of mistaken identify has caused a war..
'This baby will never get to sit and gossip with her friends about their crushes, will never have a first kiss, never meet her Prince Charming, never know the soul shaking love of looking into the eyes of her freshly born baby.
'A case of mistaken identity has robbed her of all of the things little girls dream of.'
GoFundMe was created this week to initially raise money for medical costs, but it has since been changed to include funeral costs.

On Thursday evening, family members and people who loved Aaliyah held a balloon release in her honor.
'We just lost a 7-year-old innocent child in our family for no reason,' said Kenneth Woods, one of Aaliyah's relatives, WLOS reports.
'We just want peace in the community, we want safety for the kids,' said relative Mahasia Washburn. 'We don’t want to think about stuff like this happening when we all have kids.'
Loved ones knew Aaliyah as a 'Cookie,' a bright and sweet child who unfairly lost her life to gun violence.

'She was greedy and chubby, and she liked cookies,' said Woods. 'She was sweet, adorable, nicest little girl. Everybody that came in contact would love her.'
And now, more than ever, family members are calling for an end to gun violence in the community.
'I just want people to put the guns down, it’s just senseless acts of violence,' said Alicia McSwain, a family friend.
In addition to the GoFundMe, relatives and friends are selling plates of food on Saturday and Sunday to raise money.
People can purchase #JusticeForCookie t-shirts from family friend Bethany Mae. The proceeds will go towards funeral costs.

  1. Imagine my shock. The killer is a nigger. I can't really tell from the pics if the girl was a light skinned black or white. None of the pics of of good quality. Either bad lighting or not in focus. If she's black then that would make this another case of a nigger killing it's own kind. Where's the Big Looting Machine? If she's white then that would make this a race crime. Again, where's the Big Looting Machine.

    1. With her dark complexion and choice of hair do I would say she is black or mostly black... Too bad he took her life though as she did not deserve to die.... no child deserves to die....... bu the niggers love to abort their kids....and now kill them......

  2. Cops aren't the problem: judges are. Almost every crime I hear about, the suspect is invariably a repeat offender.
