Around two dozen looters broke into a high-end SoHo camera shop and made off with $550,000 in equipment and gear, as protesters marched through the streets against George Floyd’s death, authorities said Thursday.
The first burglar smashed open the front door with heavy object and stole some camera equipment from the Leica store on W. Broadway near W. Houston St. before riding off on a CitiBike on May 31 around 10:15 p.m.
Shortly after, around 20 to 25 looters flooded the store and robbed the place of camera gear, checks and computers worth more than half a million dollars, police said.
