Cops shot a man trying to stab them in the East Village Thursday, the third police-involved shooting in less than 36 hours, authorities said.
The suspect was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive after being shot by cops near Third Ave. and E. 10th St. about 6:50 a.m., officials said.
A police source said the cops were outside a bodega when the suspect walked up on them and tried to attack. The cops then shot him.
Two cops were taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village and treated for ringing in their ears.
The shooting comes less than eight hours after a similar incident, when police shot and critically wounded a brazen attacker who walked up to a cop in East Flatbush and slashed him the neck. Two cops were shot in the hand in that incident. Both they and the slashed cop are in stable condition at Kings County Hospital.
On Tuesday night, 10 cops opened fire on a gunman, killing him on a Crown Heights street. Police said the suspect had just shot and wounded another man and refused to drop his weapon, raising it up towards the cops.
