Two Missouri brothers, aged 6 and 7, are dead after they took their grandmother’s Buick for a joyride, flew off the road, crashed and the car burst into flames.
The 7-year-old was behind the wheel of their grandmother’s 2007 Buick LaCrosse when the car ran off the road and became airborne on Friday, reported KSHB-TV. It then hit a guardrail, smashed onto the ground and bounced back up before flying back into the air, police said.
Then it “struck a wire, began rolling over, hit a tree and landed on its top,” KSHB reported, citing a police report.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol told WDAF-TV that the car flew over an embankment, crashed into a creek bed and caught fire. The boys died on the scene.

Police withheld the boys’ identification. The crash happened about 4:20 p.m. on Friday, WDAF said.
