“One arrest even included a bank robber who presented a note to a teller that said, ‘This is a bank robbery, I have COVID,’” police said in a statement.
In a domestic violence incident, a suspect was charged with assault after a relative revealed having coronavirus.
The 125 people arrested have been charged with a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges. All but 15 of them are men, police said. The Bronx, with 46 arrests, saw the most coronavirus-related crime, followed by Brooklyn, which has had 39 arrests.
By race, 66% of those arrested were black while 24% were Hispanic, 7% were white and 2%, were Asian.
