Cuomo announces New York schools will remain closed for rest of academic year amid coronavirus

Gov. Cuomo announced Friday that schools across New York will remain closed for the rest of the academic year, saying it’s simply not “possible” to reopen amid the coronavirus crisis.

“We must protect our children,” Cuomo said during his daily COVID-19 briefing from Albany.

The governor said a decision on summer school will be made by end of May.
