This is not the time to be clowning around.
Police in Peru arrested more than 20 street performers, including multiple clowns and furries, for violating the country’s lockdown restrictions during a Mother’s Day parade this week.
Videos of the raid show cops lining up performers dressed as Minnie Mouse, Super Mario and other characters and escorting them into a police station.
The group had been caught performing at an illegal event Sunday in the southern city of Andahuaylas.
Peru is under nationwide lockdown through at least May 24 to contain the spread of coronavirus.
As of Wednesday, more than 72,000 Peruvians have been infected with the virus and at least 2,000 have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
