NJ Transit chief tests positive for coronavirus

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, right, announced transportation consulting executive Kevin Corbett as the new chief of NJ Transit, Jan. 30, 2018.
NJ Transit president Kevin Corbett on Thursday announced he tested positive for coronavirus, making him the third public transportation chief in the New York City area to contract the disease.
Corbett was last at the agency’s Newark headquarters on Tuesday and is “feeling well and maintaining his regular work schedule while currently isolating at home,” according to a statement.
Corbett’s diagnosis comes less than three weeks after Metropolitan Transportation Authority chairman Pat Foye tested positive for COVID-19 and five weeks after Port Authority executive director Rick Cotton became one of the first 21 people in New York City confirmed to have the virus.
Both Foye and Cotton have since returned to work. “I’m very fortunate,” Foye said at a press conference Wednesday. “It turned out I had a mild case and I was lucky.”
