This driver got a little too revved up.
A motorist in Michigan was ticketed for driving a whopping 180 miles per hour in a 2016 Dodge Challenger on the night of April 19, MLive.com reported.
The speed limit on the I-75 freeway in Monroe County where the driver was cited is just 70 miles per hour. Roads in the state have been emptier than normal in recent days as people quarantine at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Michigan State Police initially posted a photo of the ticket on Twitter, but have since deleted the post because the driver’s identity was visible.
“MSP wants people to know, just because there is less traffic on the roads and warmer weather, there are no excuses for speeding," read the since-deleted tweet from the police agency. "Drive Safe.”
California has also experienced speeding issues since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak. Between March 19 to April 19, citations for driving over 100 miles per hour went up 87% from the same time frame last year.

  1. 180 miles per hour - this is insanity. There is no way to escape punishment. There are cameras and speed measuring devices everywhere. Sure, they could forgive you for speeding +10, +20 or even +30 miles. But, this is completely ludicrous. "Road is empty" is not an excuse, for sure.
