Snowmobiler Dies In Channahon



CHANNAHON, IL - The Channahon Police Department responded to a deadly crash involving a snowmobile and pick-up truck on Friday afternoon. Channahon police officials say the fatality occurred just before 1 p.m. in the 24000 block of Tryon Street. The victim was a 38-year-old man from Minooka, police said. According to Channahon Police, officers responded to the crash and found the Minooka man ejected from the snowmobile. He had sustained significant injuries, police said.
The Minooka resident was taken by ambulance to Joliet's Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center where he died. The driver of the truck who struck him was not hurt, police said.
For about three hours, Channahon Police closed off Tryon between St. Elizabeth Street and Liberty Street while authorities investigated the fatality. The road in Channahon was reopened around 4 p.m. on Friday.
"There are no charges pending at this time," Channahon Police announced.
The victim's name has not been released yet, pending notification of family.
